The Danger of Anxiety Disorder with Patients that have Heart Disease

According to the report in the health issue for July, disorder in anxiety can be a higher risk with patients that already have heart diseases. Moreover, this kind of disorder is also a factor of having heart failure, heart attack, stroke and death.

In addition to this, patients that are suffering from heart disease also have signs of anxiety disorder and the percentage of these patients is almost 24 percent to 31 percent. The author of the study also said that patients that have heart disease and anxiety are really connected.

Many of the studies have proven that the signs of anxiety disorder are prognostic of impairment that may also increase the possibility of having low quality in life for those patients that have heart disease. However, there are still some unproven data that can link anxiety from increasing the risk of having heart disease.

Dr. Elisabeth J. Martens of University of Tilburg in Netherlands surveyed 1, 015 patients that already have heart disease. According to the data, they analyzed the result of their urine and blood samples. Moreover, they also use the data gathered from testing their exercising ability and done electrocardiography.

Through the Diagnostic Interview Schedule, they examined the presence of depressive disorder and anxiety disorder that are link to heart disease.

With the survey done with 106 patients having heart disease, they conclude that there are high risk of anxiety with heart disease for about 9.6 percent and there are about 6.6 percent of patients are not having anxiety disorder. After deep evaluation of this study, the percentage shows that it is about 74 percent that is connected in cardiovascular diseases and anxiety.
